This industry includes the global processes of exploration, extraction,
refining, and transportation of petroleum products. It is usually divided into
two major components: upstream and downstream.
REOTEMP manufactures a variety of pressure and temperature
instruments, which are used in both upstream and downstream applications. This
market is known for high pressure applications, which commonly produce process
pressures of 10,000psi +. Diaphragm seals are often used to protect pressure
instruments (pressure gauges, transmitters, & switches) from high pressures,
pulsation, and corrosion. Remote capillary diaphragm seal assemblies are
helpful in removing pressure instrumentation from high temperature processes or
high vibration areas. For safety reasons, there is often a need for redundant
process sensing. Typically one analog instrument will be mounted locally in the
process and a second electronic signal will be sent back to the control room.
REOTEMP’s Dual Mode Thermometer provides both a local indication
and electronic output all in one unit. REOTEMP's new Hi-Vis
pressure gauge dials are used in low light environments, which are often found
in oil refineries or offshore rigs.

is usually generated at power plants by electromechanical generators, primarily
driven by heat engines fueled by chemical combustion or by flowing water or
wind. Energy can also be generated by solar photovoltaics and geothermal power.
Reotemp’s Thermocouples, RTD’s, and Bimetal thermometers are used in every
corner of this industry. Power generation can create extreme process conditions
including: high temperatures, high vibration, & shock. REOTEMP is often called
upon to build custom temperature sensors for particularly harsh environments.
Weld pad thermocouples are common in this industry. REOTEMP offers a wide
variety of weld pad styles, bends, and expansion loops. They are often used in
boilers, and other piping applications.
Water treatment is the process of manipulating or cleaning water for a specific use.
Typical uses include: water for drinking, industrial processes, medical use,
wastewater treatment, and returning water to the environment.
The instrumentation REOTEMP provides to this industry is largely
related to pressure. Process and industrial pressure gauges are by far the most
common product sold in this market. Another common product is the annular
diaphragm seal. Annular seals are used throughout wastewater treatment plants
because of their non-clogging design and durable nature. REOTEMP
provides new build annular seals and repairs old seal assemblies in a matter of
days. REOTEMP is a Certified Red Valve Repair Facility. The
All-Welded Seal Gauge (pressure gauge and diaphragm seal welded together) is
another commonly used product in this market. Available with a Hastelloy lower
which protects the gauge from chlorine service and other corrosive chemicals
used in the treatment process.
Common Applications: Filters, Pumping stations, Piping Systems, Chemical Skids.
Food & Beverage industry takes raw ingredients and processes them into products
suitable for consumption by people or animals.
Temperature and pressure instrumentation is used throughout this industry.
Applications that come into direct contact with food/beverage products are
typically required to meet sanitary standards, such as “3A”. Other products,
which don’t come into direct contact don’t require these certifications.
Sanitary products are easily identified by their tri-clamp (or tri-clover)
process connection. This connection is favored because it’s easily cleaned and
sanitized during routine shut-downs, unlike the standard threaded connections.
Sanitary pressure gauges, thermometers, RTD’s, and thermowells are found in
just about every food and beverage processing plant you’ll find.

This industry is filled with dynamic customers who need custom solutions on a
regular basis. Since San Diego has a large BioTech presence,
REOTEMP has had the opportunity to design and manufacture a variety of
innovative temperature and pressure sensors for local companies. Extremely low
temperatures and high accuracy sensors are commonplace in this industry.
is the process by which a collaboration of bugs, worms, and microorganisms
breakdown organic material into nutrient rich finished compost. The finished
compost is then used in a variety of applications including farming,
landscaping, and gardening. Monitoring the temperature of a compost pile during
the compost process is critical to maintaining a successful compost pile in
which the material is broken down quickly. Temperature will also tell the
operator or home composter when to turn the compost pile, add more material,
add water, and when the compost is done.
REOTEMP has been in the composting industry for over 20 years. Supplying a
variety of temperature probes, moisture meters, data loggers, and even wireless
temperature monitoring systems. REOTEMP is a proud member of the U.S. Compost
Council and sponsor of the International Compost Awareness Week. Compost
products are sold to commercial composting facilities, municipalities, and
residential composters throughout the U.S. and internationally.
